Job description For our customer, ESAESTEC, we are seeking an experienced Telecommunications Engineer to work at ESTEC in Noordwijk, The Netherlands. You will be assigned to the Systems and Concurrent Engineering Section within the Directorate of Technical and Quality Management. Responsibilities The Position is mainly working on GALILEO Ground Segment processing facilities, in a role supporting the GALILEO Ground Mission Segment GMS team in particular, the detailed specific tasks include Participation to GMS related Integration, Verification and Qualification IVQ activities, such as test cases definition and preparation, formal tests witnessing, Verification Credit collection at Element and Segment level, anomalies followup at Element, Segment and System level Followup of the procurement actions related to the implementation of a set of GMS Elements, being the Technical Officer for elements like Message Generation Facility MGF, the Uplink Local Station ULS, and the Service Product Facility SPF including support to the monitoring of industrial contracts for the developments and generating and reviewing relevant documentation such technical requirements Evaluation of GMS design, with a specific focus on GMS Operations and Operability Improvements, Galileo Services provision, Online and Offline Monitoring, System Reporting, Technical Monitoring Control of GMS Assets, Mission Planning, Mission Support, Training and Maintenance evolutions of the GMS architecture and design Support to GMS engineering activities, as well as Galileo System level engineering activities, such as requirement engineering, change management and baseline evolutions DCPsDCNs, assessment of contractors RFDsRFWs Contribution to GMS and System reviews. This is a full time located at ESTEC, Noordwijk, The Netherlands. The requested start of work is October 2016. Qualifications Competencies The successful candidate will have a university degree Masters in Telecommunications, Signal Processing or electronic engineering, as well as experience in the following fields Specific knowledge in the design and testing of Radio Navigation systems and equipment Strong knowledge on the design of satellite navigation systems, ranging and positioning techniques, RF, signal processing techniques, and GNSS security and processing facilities. The specialist shall in particular have several years experience relevant with the GNSS and GALILEO systems and equipment and have good knowledge of Radio Navigation processing, simulation and testing systems. They shall be specialist in the implementation, maintenance and operation of complex Radio Navigation processing, simulation and test facilities for spacecraft, aircraft, maritime and land mobile applications. The candidate shall be eligible for Galileo Personal Security Clearance PSC from an EU Member State. Being already in possession of security clearance will be considered an asset for the selection.
