Margaret Mull can laugh about it now, almost 13 years after the fact. In August 2000, at the intersection of Market Street and the tracks of Burlington Northern Santa Fe in Ottumwa, she nearly became the kind of statistic Iowans have heard about all too often this year: another motorist killed at a railroad crossing.
