RHEA is currently recruiting a Remote Sensing Engineer to support the EU FP7 project Quality Assurance for Essential Climate Variable QA4ECV at our clients premises in Darmstadt, Germany. More details on this project httpwww.qa4ecv.eu Tasks and Activities The scope of work will include Assess the quality of satellite input data to be used in the Bidirectional Reflection Distribution Function BRDFalbedo product algorithm Support the BRDFalbedo definition development, and algorithm specifications for the project Support to algorithm adaptation and processing environment development Implementation of the algorithm software into the EUMETSAT operational processing environment Generation and analysis of data record quality employing quality monitoring procedures and othervalidation techniques and data as appropriate Acquisition of relevant data from internal and external sources to support product quality monitoring Sharing of new retrieval scheme and processing procedures with international partners e.g. JMA, NOAANCDC Support implementation, processing and validation of the product with other international partners e.g. JMA, NOAANCDC Preparation of QA4ECV data for ingestion into the EUMETSAT Data Centre Compilation of relevant data set documentation including validation reports, user guides and format descriptions Compilation of project result presentations and participation in project progress meetings. Skills and Experience The following skills and experience are mandatory A University degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline, with at least 3 years experience in the implementation of software for operational or delayed mode processing of satellite instrument data and in the validation of satellite derived products. Strong technical skills with a scientific background on retrieval of parameters using visible wavelengths, e.g., surface albedo andor aerosol as well as knowledge of the visible calibration of Meteosat or similar instruments The key person is required to have strong experience with several of the following mandatory skills Programming languages and CC and FORTRAN Scripting languages, such as Python, Perl, shell, TclTk Analysis and graphic software such as IDL Processing of remote sensing data Calibration of satellite observations in the visible spectral range Validation of satellite products Working in international projects andor environment. The following skills would be highly desirable Structured software development documentation, testing and validation of application software in UNIX environments according to coding standards Operational product processing environments EUMETSAT Meteosat missions and instruments Retrieval of parameters using visible wave lengths.
