We are looking for an experienced Scientist or Engineer in operational product generation from remote sensing satellite data. The position is permanent and fulltime and fully located on customer side in EUMETSAT, Darmstadt, Germany. Submission deadline for applicants is 8th of April. The expected start date is MayJune 2016 RESPONSIBILITIESDUTIES The tasks of the key person will typically include Design, implementation and validation of updatednew algorithms Documentation of changes related to product updates Preparation of technical notes on product implementation issues Development, maintenance and update of product generation monitoring software and the corresponding database Monitoring and operating the product generation facilities Visualisation and analysis of geophysical products QUALIFICATIONSEXPERIENCE Scientist or Engineer with minimum 5 years experience in operational product generation from remote sensing satellite data ESSENTIAL SKILLS Fluency in English Algorithm software development using FORTRAN 9095 IntelGNULinux andor IBMPOWERAIX environments Implementation of scientific algorithms from a given specification and their documentation Source code control systems Subversion andor git Anomaly correction processes Python and IDL programming languages Common meteorological data formats, i.e., BUFR, CAP, GRIB, HDF5, and netCDF Authoring clear and concise technical documentation DESIRABLE SKILLS Experience in validation of geophysical products from satellite data Algorithm software development using CC programming language The operating systems GNULinux and AIX Relational databases using SQL BENEFITS Competitive salary plus a comprehensive benefits package including 30 days holiday, generous training possibilities and Telespazio VEGA Deutschland pension scheme is offered to the successful candidate.
