The Sample Fetch Rover is a possible contribution of ESA to the NASA led Mars Sample Return campaign aiming at bringing back to Earth Martian samples by the end of the next decade. The rover will have to perform a long traverse to autonomously fetch the sample tubes and bring them back to the Mars Ascent Vehicle. After being placed into orbit, the samples will be captured by the Mars Earth Return Orbiter and brought back to Earth. The service will support the phase AB1 of the Sample Fetch Rover, with particular emphasis on the rover robotic arm and autonomous fetching vision based system for the rover. Robotics technology related to the Mars Sample Return Facility, in particular related to haptics control and teleoperations will also be considered. The service will also take part in the development and implementation of HRAF with a particular focus on the distributed simulation, modelling and archiving capabilities of the concept. It will also provide support to technology development activities for the ESA Exploration Programme. The service will also participate in the development of the Spaceship ECSAT, a new enterprise of the Exploration Programme which is dedicated to initiate lowTRL activities for autonomous systems in collaboration with industryinstitutes. Specific Tasks Support to the SFR phase AB1 and breadboard activities with focus robotic arm Support to ongoing technology development activities related to Robotic Exploration, with particular focus on robotic arm and manipulation applications. Support the development of HRAF and ongoing pilot activity. Support the development of the spaceship ECSAT with a focus on HRAF and MSRF Mars Sample Return Facility robotic technologies. Requirements University PhD or Masters degree in computer science or robotics Matlab, Simulink ROS ROS 2 C Python Experience hardware and software with Kuka arm, Force Dimension Sigma 7 Haptic interface or equivalent. Experience with autonomous vision based pick and place. Experience with teleoperation.
