Job description For our customer, ESOC in Darmstadt, Germany, we are seeking for a Satellite OPSSAT Experiment Infrastructure Engineer. As a flying laboratory, ESAs OPSSAT will test and validate new techniques in mission control and onboard systems. Responsibilities The primary areas of responsibility for this role are the creation, documenting, testing and validation of the OPSSAT Experiment infrastructure. The general activities are Study of the OPSSAT specific onboard system on module SoM including all hardware and software interfaces with special attention to the Cyclone V FPGA Support creating the infrastructure required to support OPSSAT Experimenters using the SoM effectively, with special attention on how to integrate experiments into the Cyclone V FPGA. Production of the technical documentation and procedures Production of the training documentation Production of the necessary onboard infrastructure in terms of software and VHDL code to be used as a standard template for OPSSAT experimenters Production of the necessary ground infrastructure to test and validate experiments on the ground before loading to the spacecraft Production of some example experiments to prove the concept and to use as guides for OPSSAT experimenters Participation in the System Validation Tests SVT Programme Participation in the inflight commissioning operations General Support in Experimenter coordination and technical support General Flight Control Support Service This is a fulltime position to be located at ESOCs premises in Darmstadt with the planned start date 1st April 2019. Qualifications Competencies In addition to having a university degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline, you shall have following knowledge Essential skills are Experience in programming FPGAs Experience in embedded programming Experience in activities applicable to spacecraft operations Fluency in English, both speech and writing Coordination with other service providers in operations team player Ability to work independently Desirable skills are Familiarity with the ESOC environment Experience in producing technical documentation Some experience dealing with external interfaces to technical customers Familiarity with the OPSSAT mission Previous experience with Altera FPGA programming especially Cyclone V Previous experience with embedded programming on the OPSSAT MityARM SoM Previous experience with embedded programming on ARM9 processors You shall be able to conduct all activities in an orderly and disciplined manner, shall be able to work calmly and correctly under stress and must be able to work without supervision.
