For our customer, ESOC in Darmstadt, Germany, we are seeking for a Satellite OPSSAT Experiment Infrastructure Engineer. As a flying laboratory, ESAs OPSSAT is testing and validating new techniques in mission control and onboard systems. Responsibilities As part of the OPSSAT flight control team, you will participate in the spacecraft operations preparation and conduction, with focus on the creating, documenting, testing and validating the OPSSAT Experiment infrastructure. The activities will include Supporting the spacecraft operations by planning passes, analyzing telemetry, preparing and testing procedures Supporting the OnBoard SW OBSW development and planning the release of new SW versions Testing new releases of the OBSW on the Engineering Model EM, coordinating the changes required to the existing procedures with the rest of the team Conducting offline design review of experiments and provide feedback on their feasibility Conducting tests on the EM with different experimenters and provide feedback Studying the OPSSAT specific onboard system on module SoM including all hardware and software interfaces with special attention to the Cyclone V FPGA Supporting the creation of the infrastructure required to support OPSSAT Experimenters using the SoM effectively, with special attention on how to integrate experiments into the Cyclone V FPGA. Producing technical documentation and procedures Producing training documentation Producing the necessary onboard infrastructure in terms of software and VHDL code to be used as a standard template for OPSSAT experimenters Producing the necessary ground infrastructure to test and validate experiments on the ground before loading to the spacecraft Producing example experiments to prove the concept and to use as guides for OPSSAT experimenters Providing general and technical support in Experimenter coordination This is a fulltime position to be located at ESOCs premises in Darmstadt with the planned start date 1st July 2021. Qualifications Competencies In addition to having a university degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline, you shall have following knowledge Essential skills are Experience in programming FPGAs Experience in embedded programming Experience in spacecraft operations Fluency in English, both speech and writing Coordination with other service providers in operations team player Ability to work independently Desirable skills are Familiarity with the ESOC environment Familiarity with Cubesat design and operations Experience in producing technical documentation Some experience dealing with external interfaces to technical customers Familiarity with the OPSSAT mission Previous experience with Altera FPGA programming especially Cyclone V Previous experience with embedded programming on the OPSSAT MityARM SoM Previous experience with embedded programming on ARM9 processors You shall be able to conduct all activities in an orderly and disciplined manner, shall be able to work calmly and correctly under stress and must be able to work without supervision.
