This post is classified in the A2A4 grade band of the Coordinated Organisations salary scale. LOCATION ESTEC, Noordwijk The Netherlands. DUTIES The postholder will report to the Head of the ESCC Components Standardisation Section. This section supports all aspects of the European Space Components Coordination ESCC for Electronic, Electrical and Electromechanical EEE components for space applications. The main duties include supporting the Executive core functions covering the initial definition, periodic review and update of ESCC specifications, operational procedures and tools for evaluation, qualification and certification of components and component manufacturers supporting the auditing of suppliers including management and followup of nonconformances monitoring the procurement approach for ESCC components in ESA projects contributing to the definition, planning and implementation of a European policy and strategy for EEE component standardisation and harmonisation promoting programmes leading to increased availability of European components for application by space programmes and to global recognition promoting the ESCC system through the preparation, update and provision of training courses and materials, presentations, pertinent publications and the provision of relevant component data and information on the dedicated websites and databases e.g. ESCIES supporting the definition of new qualification approaches for emerging strategic components and supply chains, such as fabless manufacturers, Assembly and Test houses and COTS liaising and cooperating with the ECSS standardization bodies in the EEE parts domain and monitoring related standardization efforts by industry and other cooperating organizations such as JAXA, NASA, USMIL. The postholder is required to maintain hisher technical competence by monitoring the technological and commercial evolution in the EEE domain and for Product Assurance practices. The work involves close cooperation with European partners in the ESCC system and with international partners e.g. NASA and JAXA. QUALIFICATIONS Applicants for this post should have a university degree or equivalent qualification in ElectricalElectronic Engineering or Physics as well as substantial experience in the specification, application and procurement of components for aerospace applications. Familiarity with ESA PA requirements and national and international standards for EEE components is required as well. Applicants should have good interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively and cooperatively in a diverse and international team environment and to achieve solutions in line with team objectives. In addition, applicants should have good organisational and communication skills, as well as a proactive attitude towards solving problems and an interest in innovative technologies. The working languages of the Agency are English and French. A good knowledge of one of these two languages is required together with a working knowledge of the other language. Knowledge of another member state language is an asset. CLOSING DATE The closing date for applications is 24 May 2013.
