A vacancy has arisen for a Senior Hardware Engineer within the Communication Processors Group based in Stevenage. The Communication Processors group is responsible for the development of Digital Processors for use in telecommunication Satellites. The processor functionality ranges from high capacity channelisers, supporting intersatellite optical data links, to implementing cryptographic algorithms to protect the spacecraft. Your main tasks and responsibilities will include Technical responsibility for a processor equipment, starting from the customer specification through to delivered hardware. Performing component selection, simulations, analysis and schematic capture. Working closely with ASIC FPGA designers and directing PCB layout engineers. Supporting customer reviews. Coordinating analyses by company experts in areas such as thermal, mechanical and radiation. We are looking for candidates with the following skills and experience Educated to degree level in Electronic Engineering or related discipline. Experience of the complete Hardware Design Cycle, from Requirements Capture, through Schematic Design DxDesigner, Constraints capture, Design Analyses to Handson support to Manufacture and Test. Electronic Circuit Design, Digital and Analog, Testing of prototype designs at board and unit level. Knowledge of Mixed Signal and RF Design is desirable. An understanding of Power Supply Design. An understanding of FPGA ASIC design Xilinx, Microsemi. Strong communication and problem solving skills.
