RHEA is currently recruiting a Senior Optical Engineer to support the Space Situational Awareness SSA Programme at our clients premises in Darmstadt. Tasks and Activities Your primary tasks and activities may include Supporting the Ground Segment Manager in the preparation and execution of study and development activities for optical sensors Interfacing with the SSA segment management groups for the activities that pertain to the study and development of optical sensors Supporting test and validation activities of optical components developed in the framework of the SSA Programme either at their TV or final locations Providing support to the Ground Segment Manager for the development of the SSA Workplans Providing support to ender evaluations as appointed by the Ground Segment Manager Attending progress and review meeting with both internal and external teams as required Supporting the Ground Segment Manager in the generation of reports, articles, news and in general input required for reporting to higher management levels Reporting on the activities executed in the framework of specific WPs Interfacing with the SSA IT Team as needed In addition, you will be expected to play an active role in the NEO Survey Telescope projects. Envisaged tasks and activities include Supporting the execution of the activities aimed at defining the detailed design of the future NEO Survey Telescope Supporting the review of design documents and technical notes relative to all components of the NEO Survey Telescope Attending progress and review meeting of the NEO Survey Telescope detailed design project Supporting the execution of the activity aimed at developing the future NEO Survey Telescope Supporting the review of documents, SW and HW deliveries of the NEO Survey Telescope Carrying out verification activities as required on the outcomes of the NEO Survey Telescope development Carrying out investigations and validations as required for the identification and preparation of the site hosting the NEO Survey Telescope Supporting the activities related to the identification and preparation of the site hosting the NEO Survey Telescope Attending progress and review meetings for the project Skills and Experience You must possess the following skills and experience PhD or equivalent academic degree in Optical Engineering or Physics Minimum of 10 years demonstrated work experience in the design and procurement of optical telescopes Minimum of 3 years experience in participating in international industry contracts with a clearly defined project management responsibility Firsthand experience in the use of optical telescopes Strong knowledge of the NEO andor SST domains Fluency in English How to Apply Looking to take your career to the next level?
