As a Senior System Engineer you will be instrumental to the system engineering activities for the routine operations of the Copernicus missions as well as to the development of the future Copernicus missions as they become operational. You will engineer the interface definitions and control the system design with a sense for consistency and engineering rigor, ensuring that the ground segment performs flawlessly, exceeding the customers expectations. Working smart is allowed use modelbased system engineering methods and tools to reach perfection, teach the others in the team or learn from them how to do that. Responsibilities Duties Being a Senior System Engineer a.k.a. the right applicant you would already know most of the things that you would need to do. Here is a little something on the tasks to confirm our common understanding For operational Copernicus missions Contribute to the System Requirements Definition process andor maintaining existing requirements baselines Contribute to the maintenance, for all the operational ground systems, of a complete and consistent set of System Technical Documentation and the baseline Contribute to the creation System Engineering Models of ground systems using modelbased system engineering approach andor maintaining existing model baselines Perform technical analysis of system architecture and specification evolutions or major upgrades of the operational ground systems, for interfaces coherence and compatibility check with other ongoing developments Contribute to the IVV testing approach for major evolutions of the operational ground systems and contribute to the coordination of the installation, integration and verification of new systems into the operational infrastructure Contribute to the various OPS TSS Projects and associated reviews, as required, providing System Engineering support during the design phase and contribute actively to the definition of the IVV activities Contribute to the assessment of Engineering Tasks providing System Engineering expertise to CRBs and ARBs Contribute to the impact analysis of ICT evolutions in operational systems Contribute to the analysis, investigations and resolution of system and ground segment level anomalies Provide expert inputs to the SEP Copernicus System Engineer on all related activities as requested Contribution to the OPS regular coordination processes as requested For the future missions Participate to the description of the system architecture and interfaces between external systems and the Copernicus mission specific elements of the ground system In coordination with the system and interface engineers of the future ground segment, ensure that the definition and documentation of new interfaces are compatible with the methodology used in Operations this includes the use of common templates for Interface Control Document and the use of the same tool for maintaining the interfaces data dictionary Provide support to the definition of the IVV approach for the future ground systems. Qualifications Experience Study, study, and then work, work, now is the time that the following qualifications should pay off by getting you this fascinating job that you hopefully consider more the fulfillment of a life purpose than work You have a bachelor university degree or equivalent in an engineering or scientific discipline related to system engineering, combined with at least 5 years relevant experience and the capability to fulfil the assigned tasks with a minimum of supervision The official languages of EUMETSAT are English and French. The working language for the service is English and therefore you must be able to work effectively in this language. Good communication skills are essential for the fulfilment of the tasks You are able to work on many phases or subtasks of a project or entire projects of moderate complexity You are able to lead technical staff You are experienced with a number of systems and can be considered as a Subject Matter Expert in at least one area or system. You also possess working knowledge of a number of other specialized areas You are able to work well with others in a team, providing input and feedback in a helpful manner. Essential Skills Experience in the analysis of systems applications and modelling Experience in the field of Systems Engineering and architectural design for ground segment systems Capability to prepare system requirements and design documents, and to perform systemlevel analyses for complex satellitebased systems Experience of writing technical requirements preferably to ECSS standards Experience of interface management and definition Familiarity with mechanisms and tools for detailed interface definition Capability to prepare and manage Interface Control Documents Ability to use modelling and design languages for System Engineering e.g. SysML and tools in support of architectural design activities e.g. Vitech CORE, Enterprise Architect Knowledge of space and ground system engineering processes, and system and software lifecycles and standards Experience in Model Based Systems Engineering MBSE methods, techniques and tools Definition, management and traceability of requirements structure with the support of dedicated tools e.g. DOORS Experience in Integration, Verification and Validation IVV of complex systems Knowledge and experience in the two mandatory domains, and minimum four of the other domains given in the following Mandatory Satellite monitoring and control systems including Flight Dynamics and SC Simulator aspects Mandatory Data processing Dissemination Archive systems Ground Stations Computer systems Network systems IT Security Desirable Skills If in addition you bring in the following skills, youll shine bright and blind the competition Experience in the full development cycle of large systems, from the definition of requirements to system design and testing Configuration Control processes and tools Familiarity with the ECSS standards. INCOSE System Engineering certification CSEPESEP, or comparable systems engineering certification.
