STARDundee Ltd is seeking an experienced Software Engineer to join our RD team and help to develop our range of products for the international aerospace industry. Established in 2002, STARDundee is a successful company that supplies the international space agencies and space industry with chip designs and test and development equipment for spacecraft. Our main focus of work is computer network technology for use onboard spacecraft. We are a world leading supplier of SpaceWire technology and are designing the next generation of spacecraft network technology. STARDundee is working with Atmel on the next generation of processing devices for space applications. This is an exciting opportunity to join a small, dynamic team working on leadingedge technology for spacecraft. Further information on STARDundee may be obtained from the following websites www.stardundee.com Software Engineer The successful candidate will join the software design team in STARDundee and will work on the development of software for spacecraft embedded systems and tools to assist embedded system developers. The software engineer role covers the design of embedded system development software running on host PCs, and modifications to existing compilers and other tools to support these embedded systems. It includes Software requirements review Software specification Software design Software implementation Software testing Writing of related documentation Input to relevant promotional material Assisting the Services division on support requests related to software A candidate must have the following qualificationsskillsexperience A 1st class or 21 degree in computer science or electronic engineering Good knowledge and substantial practical experience of C or C Ability to develop software under Windows or Linux or both Experience in using development environments such as Visual Studio and Eclipse Knowledge of embedded processing and compilers Experience in using a source code management system such as Subversion or Mercurial Good attention to detail Ability to test and document your work Ability to work from your own initiative with limited supervision, as well as alongside other team members The ideal candidate will also have experienceskills in the following areas Experience with GNU tool chain and debugger Experience in embedded systems development and debugging Experience developing for the RTEMS and VxWorks operating systems Experience writing device drivers for embedded systems, Windows or Linux Good verbal and written communication skills. Experience of software development for spaceflight applications is not necessary although this would be an advantage. The starting salary will be offered according to relevant experience.
