Space Applications Services N.V. performs and supports system and software engineering for the European Space Agency ESA, National Space Agencies and the aerospace industry. We are involved in international manned unmanned spacecraft programmes, earth observation, science, exploration, communications and related technology development. Our headquarters is in Belgium, with offices in the Netherlands and the USA. Building on our expertise in human spaceflight we are seeking several staff to join our team to participate in the development of the Orion spacecraft in Houston, Texas. We require staff for the following position Software Engineer mf AESFSW201402 Tasks and Responsibilities We have two positions, one as team lead and the other as team member. The work is to be performed in Houston, Texas in close association with NASA Johnson Space Centre as part of a team prototyping and developing the MPCV Orion spacecraft cockpit displays. The tasks to be performed include Cockpit software qualification preparation Support and assist the development of the process to qualify the Orion display software. To use various commercial and NASAdeveloped testing tools and techniques to identify and remedy errors, to generate software requirements, and to document software designs. Support tools development Support and assist with the further development and application of the tool that will be used to develop flight crew procedures eProc Writer. To lead the development and application of the Orion simulation scenario defibition and execution support tool SimSup content creation tool. Qualifications and Experience Applicants should have a University degree in a relevant discipline and several years of experience in spacecraft software and simulator design and development. Furthermore, candidates are required to have following skills Solid background in system and software engineering with knowledge of modelling tools and engineering best practices. At least three years experience in object oriented devlopment in C and MFC for one position. At least three years experience with Perl in Active State Komodo for the tools development tasks. A good knowledge of aerospace standards ECSS, DO178B... would be an asset. Experience in cockpit development and qualification would be an asset as would experience with Linux, LDRA, Coverity and Perforce tools. Creative team player with the ability to cope with pressure. Fluent in English, good organization skills, good communication skills, high level of flexibility The position will be located in Houston, Texas with some travel, primarily within the United States.
