Space Applications Services performs space system and software engineering for the European Space Agency, National Space Agencies and the space industry. We are involved in international unmanned and manned spacecraft programmes and in European international research programmes. Tasks and Responsibilities The Knowledge Management Team at Space Applications Services realises cuttingedge research and commercial solutions development in knowledge representation and natural language processing. Your first task will be to manage the contributions of SpaceApps in an international project aiming at research and development of long term data preservation technology and solutions. In the project you will lead the activities of analysing the needs for preservation of space science data from experiments performed on board the International Space Station, establishing the solution architecture and implementing a technology demonstrator. The results of your work will be used as the foundation of operational long term data preservation solutions for a range of applications. You will be working together with a small, downtoearth team with high standards and competent members, and may be involved, to certain extent, in other projects. The work will be performed at our offices in Zaventem Brussels with some international travel from time to time, for project reviews, installation at the customers site, etc. Qualifications and Experience You must have the following qualification to apply A computer science university degree or equivalent, and have at least 4 years of working experience. Excellent command of spoken and written English. Knowledge of Dutch is a plus. Development in LinuxUnix environments. Java and JVM technologies. Knowledge of any of the following techniques is desirable, but not required Natural language processing. NoSQL technologies. Knowledge engineering, semantics and ontology authoring.
