For our activities in ESOC we are currently seeking a Spacecraft Analyst to support the GMES Sentinels programme. The Analyst will be required to support the Spacecraft Operations Managers SOMs as a member of the Flight Control Teams FCTs during prelaunch ground segment development and validation and post launch nominal and contingency operations. Within the Flight Control Team, he will coordinate his work with the existing Sentinels Analyst and will have to coordinate his tasks with the other SCOS 2000 based Earth Observation missions. This includes among others the following tasks Responsibility of the organisation, training and operational readiness of the controllers assigned to the mission Setup of SC and operational data bases, including verification of database contents against satellite documentation. Implement tools needed to manipulate the databases as required. Updating the databases and performing maintenance of the databases applying strict configuration control procedures. Conversion of industry provided databases into formats needed by the mission control system and operational tools. Applying configuration control procedures for documentation in use for all operational tasks and duties under his supervision. Preparation of data base documentation. Responsibility for the transmission and tracking of operational instructions to the SPACON team and ensuring their compliance. At a later stage, supervision of routine operations and any others authorised by the SOM, following established rules and procedures. In case of ground or space segment anomaly providing first level contingency recovery support. Participating in the LEOP operations with regard to any database updates, SPACON management, or acting as SpaCon on console as required. Introduction and maintenance of appropriate working practises and procedures for routine and problem reporting, data analysis, recording and maintenance of system status, recording of operational activities. Analysis as required of system problems by collection and evaluation of appropriate data sets using the reporting and analysis tools available. Collect information data regarding the execution of the mission and provide inputs for the various mission reports. Support data archiving and mission run down activities. The SC Analyst may be required to develop and install suitable tools to allow the efficient execution of the operational tasks. Heshe may be required to analyse the system operations and to prepare procedures, and will be involved in the validation and testing of both the control system and the operational procedures. The selected candidate will take part in prelaunch test campaigns and simulations, and arrange for the participation of the controllers and will conduct regular post launch operational readiness training and simulations with controllers proficiency training. Initially this position will be working on Sentinel1, Sentinel2 and Sentinel3 missions with the prime Analyst. Additionally, support to the preparation or operations of other missions delegated to the Division may be required as requested by the Head of Division or Spacecraft Operations Manager. Job Requirements Applicants should have a good knowledge of ESOC Ground Segment Operations and ESOC Ground Segment Components. Good experience with MSACCESS is also required, as well as some experience with office tools, such as MSEXCEL, Visual Basic, ORACLE and SQL. Programming skills are an advantage knowledge of spacecraft control systems such as SCOS 2000 is highly desirable. Knowledge of Packet Utilisation Standard is also highly desirable. The official languages of ESOC are English and French. The working language for this position is English you must be able to work effectively in this language.
