This work package is intended to provide a number of specialised services to support ESA in developing science operations systems and tools, including System engineering and architectural design activities, including operating plans and procedures, Designing, developing, implementing, testing, deploying, operating and maintaining software tools and systems, e.g. o Observation proposal handling, mission planning and quicklook systems, parts of which may be distributed to the community o User support tools o Interactive analysis and calibration systems, to be distributed as needed to the community for data reduction and analysis o Data processing pipelines o Scientific data archives and interfacing these to the virtual observatory. o Scientific and technical WWW systems to support Science Operations Centre, Science Ground Segment and the scientific community Contribute to the definition of Interface Control Documents ICDs and file interchange formats with external coordination units Organise and perform end to end system testing with the scientific communities Contribute to the maintenance of the overall system, including configuration control and versioning The BepiColombo Science Ground Segment BepiColombo is a joint ESAJAXA mission to Mercury. The mission comprises two spacecraft, ESAs Mercury Planetary Orbiter MPO and JAXAs Mercury Magnetospheric Orbiter MMO. The two spacecraft will be launched in July 2016 with arrival at Mercury in early 2024. The activities of the MPO Science Ground Segment SGS include Science Operations Planning of the MPO payload, science data processing and data distribution to the instrument teams, quick look data analysis of science data and archiving of data in the BepiColombo science archive. The MPO SGS has interfaces with the Operational Ground Segment OGS at ESOC, the MMO JAXA Sagamihara Space Operations Centre SSOC, the MPO Instrument Teams and the Scientific Community. The SGS is based at the European Space Astronomy Centre ESAC in Villanueva de la Caada, Madrid, Spain Main Service Tasks Responsibilities The main area of activity will be SW development for the implementation of the Data Processing Subsystem DPS within the BepiColombo Science Control System at the Science Ground Segment. The activity will also imply integration, operation and maintenance of the Data Processing infrastructure, components and tools.
