Tasks and Responsibilities ESAs Payloads and Platforms Division HSOUP, within the ISS Utilisation and Astronaut Support Department, and the ISS Resources and Utilisation Infrastructure Division HSOIF, within the ISS Exploitation and Exploration Department, have the responsibility for the full development activities for all ISS research payloads, as well as the evolution of existing ISS payloads and supports the subsequent operational phase of those ISS payloads. The current position is to join the system engineering team to support the Biolab Experiment Containers payload developments phase CD for experiments such as CellRad, Triplelux, Cytoskeleton, ArtEMISS. The company is responsible for supporting ESA in System Engineering for these life science payloads. The work will be performed in our offices in The Netherlands, close to ESTEC. The position will include the following tasks and responsibilities Providing system engineering support to ESAs technical officer for the development activities and testing of selected payloads. Elaborating and proposing corrective actions and solutions for identified technical problems in payload development projects. Supporting the definition of the payload baseline from the definition of requirements up to and including the end item definition. Supporting the technical officer in defining and implementing the functional requirements. Overseeing and coordinating AIT activities and interface verification. Supporting the organisation and conduct of reviews in the project life cycle. Supporting feasibility studies and payload assessments. Qualifications and Experience Applicants should have a University degree in an engineering discipline or in physics. Candidates are required to have following skills Knowledge of the ISS environment for scientific payloads. Knowledge of ISS boundary conditions and product assurance and safety procedures. Experience in the science payload space flight domain and at the least one of the following fields biological mechanicaI electrical electronic thermal software safety engineering. Knowledge of the requirements definition process for scientific payloads. Management of external hardware software interfaces for payloads definition, control, verification. Experience in managing payload development projects and in defining requirements linked to the individual phases of the project. Experience in organisation of technical reviews for development projects. Ability to work independently. Experience in interfacing with industry, ESANASA PSRP Payload Safety Review Panel, academia and national and international organisations, would be an advantage.
