Terma Space operates out of Denmark, The Netherlands, Germany, and the UK. Job description Our customer, EUMETSAT, is seeking an experienced Systems Engineer to provide consultancy support to assist the EUMETSAT Low Earth Orbit LEO Division performing system engineering and design activities. The current programmes of the LEO Division are EPS Jason3 Copernicus Sentinel3 EPSSG Preparatory Programme Sentinel6JasonCS future programme The position of System Engineer requires expert knowledge in several system engineering areas and disciplines covering requirements, architectural design and detailed definition of subsystems, and their functions, performance, interfaces and operations activities. Responsibilities As a System Engineer, you will carry out tasks which support activities typically related to Phase BC of a space programme in the area of system design engineering and architecture definition. You will work within the Sentinel6JasonCS project, with potential support to other LEO programmes. You will perform system engineering activities such as Justification of the system design including producing and maintaining any relevant analyses and budgets General support to system engineering activities, for example Documentation of system design and interfaces Support to the technical coordination with Partners Support to segment level activities and reviews as required Participate to System level formal reviews In the performance of these tasks, you will be required to apply the EUMETSAT configuration and change control procedures as well as the relevant system engineering standards and quality management procedures. You will work in a multidisciplinary team reporting to the JasonCS System Manager. The tasks will be carried out mainly at EUMETSAT facilities in Darmstadt, but travel within Europe and the U.S. may be required for certain activities. This is a fulltime position located at EUMETSATs premises in Darmstadt, Germany, with an initial contract duration of 2 years, with options to extend. The start date is 1st October 2015. Working time is normal working hours. Qualifications Competencies Applicants shall have a university degree in a relevant engineering discipline. Applicants shall have skills, attributes and expertise in the following mandatory areas At least 5 years demonstrated experience in the field of large scale systems engineering and architectural design Demonstrated ability to analyse systems from an endtoend perspective Capability to prepare design documents, to perform systemlevel analyses and to produce and maintain technical budgets Fluent written and spoken English It would be an advantage to have knowledge andor experience with the following Experience in earth observation satellitebased projects, particularly in the areas of nearreal time data processing or spacecraft control systems Experience with Model Based System Engineering with the support of dedicated tools e.g. CORE Space and ground system engineering processes and standards Knowledge of French You will also need to have the characteristics Ability to work with a high degree of autonomy and with a minimum level of supervision. Good analytical capabilities. Sound interpersonal skills, with good oral and written communications skills. High motivation.
