We are looking for a System and Concurrent Design Facility Engineer E3 to join our Modis Aerospace team, working onsite at the European Space Agency in the Netherlands. Modis Aerospace is a specialized Engineering consultancy with more than 30 years experience providing aerospace Engineers to our key partners in The Netherlands. Modis is a longstanding business partner of the European Space Agency ESA, with more than 120 employees recruited from across Europe currently supporting ESAs activities. Specific tasks to be performed The postholder will provide support to the section activities in the areas of systems and concurrent engineering CE. In particular, the postholder will support Development, implementation and adoption in Projects of ModelBased System Engineering MBSE Systems engineering modelling Concurrent engineering tools methods Technology developments enhancing adoption of MBSE practices The activities will be in the area of Systems engineering, including support to Projects applying or willing to apply MBSE Methods, tools and standards to support MBSE Tools and infrastructure development maintenance in support to systems and concurrent engineering modelling including CE tools like OCDT General tasks to be performed Support the organisation and execution of concurrent engineering studies in cooperation with DTEC technical specialists, project teams and industry. Actively participate in CDF studies e.g. prephase A assessment and activities covering the position of System Engineer andor Team Leader, thus coordinating design and architecture sessions with specialists of other engineering disciplines. Contribute to the enhancement of the CDF infrastructure to support internal studies, including formalisation of design models, io parameter definition, visualisation presentation. Support the total CDF infrastructure and overall integrated modelling to ensure the functionality and performance of the CDF, including documentation, user manuals and databases. Organise and lead the development of concurrent engineering tools, mathematical and design models and methods in support of System Engineering and application to all phases of the project lifecycle. Promote the use of the CDF to support ESA programmes, industry and external customers. Organise and participate in the training of the CDF users. Provide System Engineering functional support to ESA projects, which encompasses interface with the project team directly or via the TECSYE project support engineer, interface if requested with the industrial team, participation in progress meetings and reviews, as requested by project work, and providing appropriate feedback about achieved progress and results. Provide support to the Directorates activities as requested within the field of competence. To successfully perform the above mentioned tasks, the following background experience is required Master degree or equivalent qualification in engineering or physics. At least 4 years of relevant experience of systems engineering including Experience in multidisciplinary system modelling, using data modelling languages e.g. Unified Modelling LanguageSystem Modelling Language SysML and associated modelling applications e.g. MagicDraw, Capella, Enterprise Architect, or comparable modelling languages as well as supporting tools Knowledge of objectoriented programming in e.g. Java, data science and data reporting tools e.g. Jupyter notebooks, systems engineering and missions analysis or other systemsrelated disciplines engineering tools e.g. MATLAB, STK, MathCad, Catia, etc. Experience in requirements management and verification engineering Experience in and good knowlegde of Model Based System Engineering Ability to work independently and to establish good working relations with ESA is essential. Relevant practical knowledge and experience in mission design, feasibility studies and the related informatics tools. Concurrent Engineering applied to space mission assessment and design, system design modelling tools. Knowledge and practice in the application of ESA SE Standards e.g. ECSSE10 series and SW engineering. About ESAESTEC The European Space Agency ESA has sites in several European countries. The European Space Research and Technology Centre ESTEC is the largest site and the technical heart of ESA. This nursery of European space activities is located in Noordwijk, Netherlands. At ESTEC, about 2500 engineers, technicians and scientists work handson with mission design, spacecraft and space technology. Almost all ESA projects except launchers are managed from ESTEC. In Noordwijk, people work on science missions, manned space missions, Earth observation, telecommunications and navigation satellites. ESTEC provides extensive testing facilities to verify the proper operation of spacecraft, such as the Large Space Simulator LSS, acoustic and electromagnetic testing bays, multiaxis vibration tables and the ESA Propulsion Laboratory EPL.
