Terma Space operates out of Denmark, The Netherlands, France, Germany, the UK and France. Job description For our customer, the European Space Agency ESA, we are seeking an experienced SystemSoftware Engineer to work at ESAs ESTEC site in Noordwijk, The Netherlands. Responsibilities You will be assigned to ESAESTECs Small Satellite Platform Unit in the Projects Office, within the Directorate of Technical and Quality Management DTEC. The Projects Office is responsible for advancing technological innovation within the European space industry by providing flight opportunities for new developments. It supervises lowcost microsatellite less than 120 kilograms missions that provide initial qualification flight opportunities for new platform and instrument technologies prior to their use on more mainstream spacecraft. The office supervises feasibility studies for promising future technologies not yet sufficiently advanced for actual flight. It is responsible for development contracts for reusable technologies to gain flight qualification and subsequently become offtheshelf building blocks providing the possibility of a fasttrack concepttolaunch schedule for future small spacecraft. The specific tasks you will perform are Support Avionics and space electronics procurements from early definition phase through to qualification phase. Maintain interfaces with the relevant industrial Contractors and subsystem responsibles in industry or research institute for the assigned projects as well as with the specific support at ESA Product Assurance, EEE Parts experts, . Support system reviews of the assigned projects as required, follow up technical issues arising on the assigned projects, and participate in risk reduction activities. This is a fulltime position located at ESTEC, Noordwijk, The Netherlands. The requested start of work is October 2020 or as soon as possible thereafter. Qualifications Competencies The successful candidate shall have A Masters degree or equivalent qualification in Aerospace Engineering, Space Systems Engineering, or a related discipline. At least 4 years of relevant industrial experience, ideally acquired in technology demonstration missions andor smallsat development. Expert knowledge of space electronics, in particular avionics and communication subsystems, through the complete lifecycle including design, development and AIVqualification. Desirable Wider knowledge of spacecraft system and mission design, incl. system design modelling tools applied to space mission assessment and design would be useful. Knowledge ofexperience in the practical application of engineeringquality standards, such as ECSS space industry standards, would be an asset. Some familiarity with project management would be an additional asset.
