We are looking for a Technical Architect with Satellite Communications experience to join us in Leatherhead, Surrey to work on Space projects for a variety of major clients including European Space Agency, Inmarsat, ECMWF, Eumetsat and Airbus. Our Technical Architects typically work in teams alongside, designers and testers against client requirements using industry standards to implement some of Europes most exciting IT projects. As a Satcoms Technical Architect you would be required to work in a key role in supporting and growing the CGI Space business, and will be intimately engaged in designing and developing solutions as part of both business development and project delivery. The successful candidate will play a pivotal part in the architectural development requirements evolution, and demonstrating compliance on a number of space programmes. You are expected to take a leading role in the detailed design, coding, testing and documentation of projects. You will support the development and testing teams, including leading investigation, troubleshooting and resolution of anomalies. You should be able demonstrate that you are capable of quickly picking up new concepts. You must be able to work to high standards of quality, and to agreed timescales independently or as part of a team. Your role will involve Providing consultancy to projects and clients related to satellite communications and networks system design, for satellite operators, service providers and end users of satellite communications services. Supporting the Account Managers in creating new business opportunities for CGI in the satellite communications marketplace Taking a lead technical role in the bidding process for IT systems being procured by satellite operators or service providers. Acting as technical authority and providing expert guidance on satellite communications concepts to project teams in the delivery of these projects. Essential Qualifications You should have A University degree or equivalent qualification in engineering, physical sciences or mathematics. A demonstrable understanding of current satellite communications technologies Significant experience in the telecommunications area, some or all in satellite communications, in a technical design andor systems engineering role preferably with direct experience in IT systems andor networks design. Proven consulting ability to advise senior telecoms customers on future systems design and work with stakeholders to devise new service concepts. You must be able to work in an environment where requirements change often and quickly, and have the ability to assimilate new information rapidly and derive suitable courses of action. You will also need to demonstrate good commercial acumen and business awareness. You should also have strong analytical skills, be selfmotivated and able to tackle technical assignments and problem solving without support from others. You must have strong written and presentation skills, with excellent attention to detail. An ability to anticipate risks and mitigate appropriately is essential. This role is based in Leatherhead and will require full time attendance at our Leatherhead offices. This role includes the opportunity for some occasional international travel to client sites, especially within Europe. Starting salaries depend on the current level of expertise and experience. Our roles require Security Clearance to SC Level, so you must have lived and worked in the EU for the past 5 years, and be willing to obtain this level of clearance if you do not already have it.
