Job description For our customer, the European Space Agency ESA, we are seeking an experienced Technology RD Engineer to work at ESAs ESTEC site in Noordwijk, The Netherlands. Responsibilities You will be assigned to the Technology Implementation Section within the Directorate of Technical and Quality Management. This section is responsible for the implementation of the general technology activities of ESA and coordinates technology developments within their specific programme lines. Accordingly, it oversees a set of RD programmes aimed at sourcing innovation beyond the immediate market horizon while also serving to derisk the innovation process for the space industry. The RD Technology Engineer will support the Management and Implementation of ESAs General Support Technology Programme GSTP and of the Technology Development Element TDE of the Basic Activities by carrying out the following main tasks Evaluation of industrial proposals for technology RD activities on their technical merit, consistency and defined priorities. Preparation of the planning of the Technology programmes and of inflight demonstration opportunities in close collaboration with representatives from technical support and programme departments. Managing assigned RD activities. Monitoring of the implementation of the programmes and of activities, as appropriate, and provision of management information as required. Monitoring of the consistency of the various ProgrammesInitiatives with respect to other ongoing technology programmes and defined industrial policy objectives. Evaluation of the results and support the dissemination of technology achievements e.g. support the preparation of workshops and final presentation days. This is a fulltime position located at ESTEC, Noordwijk, The Netherlands. The requested start of work is September 2020 or as soon as possible thereafter. Qualifications Competencies You will need to have A Masters level degree in an engineering subject preferably space related. A minimum of 4 years relevant professional experience e.g. in technologyRD management in a hightec sector. Familiarity and experience in the RD area and technology development processes, in particular in the space sector, is a distinctive advantage. Knowledge of ProgrammeProject management and controlling methods and tools. Ability to interface with ESA staff at all levels engineering level to programme management level. Demonstrated ability to analyse and synthesise complex information. Good verbal and written communications. Rigor, commitment and reliability in the execution of the assigned tasks. Proactive attitude to solving problems, identify priority actions and to handle high workload. What can Terma Offer?
