FAA has asked world's fuel producers to submit proposals for fuel options that would help general aviation industry make transition to unleaded fuel. FAA is committed to development of a new unleaded fuel by 2018 that would minimize impact of replacing 100 octane low-lead fuel. FAA will assess viability of candidate fuels in terms of impact on existing fleet, production and distribution infrastructure, impact on environment, toxicology, and economic considerations.
