SUMMARY OF WATCHES AND WARNINGS IN EFFECT: A Tropical Storm Warning is in effect for... * Belize City, Belize to Cancun, Mexico, including Cozumel A Tropical Storm Warning means that tropical storm conditions are expected somewhere within the warning area. Interests elsewhere in Belize and the Yucatan Peninsula of Mexico should monitor the progress of this system. For storm information specific to your area, please monitor products issued by your national meteorological service. DISCUSSION AND OUTLOOK ---------------------- At 100 PM CDT (1800 UTC), the center of Tropical Storm Nadine was located inland near latitude 17.6 North, longitude 88.5 West. Nadine is moving toward the west near 8 mph (13 km/h). A faster westward motion is expected during the next day or so. On the forecast track, Nadine is expected to move across Belize, northern Guatemala, and southern Mexico through Sunday. Maximum sustained winds are near 50 mph (85 km/h) with higher gusts. Weakening is expected, and Nadine will likely dissipate by late Sunday. Tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 195 miles (315 km) from the center. The estimated minimum central pressure is 1003 mb (29.62 inches). Isolated areas of amounts exceeding 12 inches are also possible through late Tuesday. 000 ABPZ20 KNHC 191709 TWOEP Tropical Weather Outlook NWS National Hurricane Center Miami FL 1100 AM PDT Sat Oct 19 2024 For the eastern North Pacific...east of 140 degrees west longitude: South of Southwestern Mexico: After Nadine dissipates over southern Mexico, its remnants are expected to move into the eastern Pacific. The combination of the remnants of Nadine and influences from the Gulf of Tehuantepec gap wind event are forecast to result in the formation of a new low pressure system off the coast of southwestern Mexico in a couple of days. Additional development is expected after that time, and a tropical depression is likely to form during the early to middle part of next week while the system moves westward at about 15 mph away from the coast of Mexico. * Formation chance through 48 hours...low...20 percent. * Formation chance through 7 days...high...80 percent. $$ Forecaster Cangialosi
