U.S. Apparel Imports: Latest and Long-Term Trends (Monthly Report)

2018-12-12 17:25:19| EmergingTextiles.com

US apparel imports have sharply rebounded in October, with shipments rising 14.5% in volume terms from a year earlier. Imports from China have even surged nearly 20% after Chinese prices have significantly fallen. The drop of polyester prices and anticipation of additional US tariffs as of January 1st may have triggered this very unusual volatility of US apparel imports. Our monthly review covers US apparel import data, with historical trends being analyzed over the 2000-2018 period including cotton vs man-made fiber apparel, and China vs Rest of World (RoW) and vs Vietnam.
