We are currently looking for a UNIX System Software Engineer to support our customer in Germany. UNIX System Software Engineer Key Tasks and Responsibilities As part of the Ground Segment Infrastructure Division team, you will have the following responsibilities Installation and configuration of operating system and other software Analysis, planning and carrying out of HW and SW upgrades or reconfigurations Monitoring of the system performance, investigation into HW and system SW problems and carrying out the relevant corrective actions Provision of firstlevel support to the users of the system Coordination with shared infrastructures, e.g. networks, storage network infrastructure SNI, for operations and maintenance Liaison with the external providers of HW and system SW maintenance Administration and installation of databases Administration of user accounts Support to SW development and maintenance Implementation and maintenance of scripts andor procedures Provision of standbyoncall support if needed under special circumstances Provision of support, as required, to critical operations. Skills Experience You will have the following qualifications and relevant experience University degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline Extensive experience in the administration and troubleshooting of distributed systems, preferably in an operational or production environment Expert knowledge significant work experience of the UNIX operating system Experience on IBM computers AIX, configuration of pseries servers, GPFS, TSM backup, NIM is mandatory. Fluency in English is mandatory knowledge of another European language is an advantage. This job is located in Darmstadt.
