Europe agrees to end roaming charges in June 2017

(Telecompaper) After years of negotiations, European member states, the European Parliament and the European Commission have finally agreed on an end date for roaming charges following trilogue talks on the proposed Telecoms Single Market package. Roaming fees will be abolished on 30 June 2017, although they will be subject to a fair use policy to prevent abuses. In addition, from 30 April 2016, roaming fees will be capped at EUR 0.05 per minute for calls, EUR 0.05 per megabyte for mobile data and EUR 0.02 per SMS.
