ISD is currently recruiting consultants to work within Prime Spacecraft science missions throughout Europe. We are currently seeking candidates to fill roles in both project office and engineering domains RAMS Support You should have a minimum of 3 years experience in the role of Reliability, Availability, Maintainability and Safety RAMS within the Space or Aerospace Industries. Your main duties will be to take an active role in the management of subcontractors and suppliers of engineering and flight hardware and the preparation of equipment inputs to the system RAMS FDIR for a Prime Spacecraft mission. You will actively support the subcontractor engineering review process and support the Prime in the project in the major system level reviews. Based at the Prime project premises within Europe, this role will additionally require extensive travel throughout Europe to suppliers premises. Planned for launch in 2022 and arrival at Jupiter in 2030, it will spend at least three years making detailed observations of the giant gaseous planet Jupiter and three of its largest moons, Ganymede, Callisto and Europa. Objectives as RAMS Engineer Platform equipment Instruments CFIs Reliability, Availability, Maintainability Safety Engineering for Satellite This is a full time position, located at our customer site in Toulouse, France, starting in September 2016. Travels within Europe are required for this position. Duration is approximately 3 years. Responsibilities As an RAMS Support Engineer your tasks will include 1. Management of subcontractors and review activities for Satellite Subcontractors RAMS activities management and control for reliability, availability, and safety matters Critical review of subcontractors documentation Participation to subcontractors reviews Update of equipment technical specification RAMS section according to the system analyses, addressing reliability allocation, availability allocation, lifetime requirements, failure tolerance requirements, FDIR requirements, feared events At subcontractors kick off or at least 2 or 3 months before equipment PDRs, meeting with subcontractors RAMS responsibles to explain and justify the expected content of equipment RAMS documents Before PDR, iterative work with subcontractors to converge on documents content sending of draft documents followed by comments sent back. Implement mitigation actions with project depending on the risk level At PDR review of PDR documentation, writing of RIDs, checks of RIDs subcontractor answers, participation to PDR, following of post PDR subcontractor actions, in particular documents update Between PDR and CDR iterative work with subcontractors to converge on documents content before CDR sending of draft documents followed by comments sent back. Implement mitigation actions with project depending on the risk level At CDR review of CDR documentation, writing of RIDS, checks of RIDs subcontractor answers, participation to CDR, following of post PDR subcontractor actions, in particular documents update 2. Preparation of equipment RAMS FDIR inputs for the Satellite system RAMS and FDIR Equipment reliability and availability inputs for system reliability and availability analysis Equipment failure rate for all the phases and temperatures for which it will be used during flight Failures leading to equipment mission suspend, SEUSET rates Equipment Failure Mode Effects Summary FMES including SEUSET leading to permanent or transient effects at equipment level Equipment safety inputs for satellite hazardous items list and satellite safety submission. Synthesis of safety issues during equipment reception, integration and testing, safety design features, compliance to safety specification Analysis and management of RFDs for RAMS aspects including out of derating and SPF, PSA, and WCA Assessment of life limited items qualification Preparation of RAMS critical item list Qualifications Competencies The applicant shall have a proven experience in each field of the RAMS discipline as defined by ECSSQST10 and ECSSQST20. The Reliability Engineering Group is involved in the complete lifecycle of RAMS activities associated with Spacecraft and its constituent parts. These range from requirements capture, support to system engineering, design optimisation, and the production of the necessary analyses to meet Customer requirements. You will work in close collaboration with other Engineering disciplines analysing designs quantifying results in reliability terms and recommending improvements to those designs, where possible, to improve the reliability. The reliability aspects may cover System designs at the highest level down to equipment designs at the lowest level, from project conception through to final delivery of hardware. You will work concurrently with the FDIR specialists and provide the necessary inputs as part of the FDIR process.
