ResponsbilitiesDuties The focus of this INR consultancy is mainly in the support of future EUMETSAT geostationary and lowearth orbit programmes, but may also involve support work for existing programmes. QualificationsExperience Remote Sensing Scientist with extensive experience in Level 1 satellite data processing algorithms for Image Navigation and Registration and geometrical correction. Essential Skills Fluency in English An extensive theoretical knowledge of Level 1 data processing algorithms for Image Navigation and Registration, and geometric correction Sound expertise in software development and proven experience in at least one coding language, preferable CC, in a UNIXLINUX environment. Tasks and responsibilities The Data Processing Engineer shall support the Sentinel3 Operations with respect to EUMETSATs Marine Payload Data Ground Segment PDGS maintenance in particular anomaly correction and software release processes in the area of data processing systems from instrument source packet level through to level2. The consultant shall also support the coordination of the evolutions of these systems. The consultants duties will include a range of tasks, from preparing and providing the support of the day to day operations and maintenance currently in the launch preparation phase, the analysis and testing of the facilities including the handling of anomalies, and the design of upgrades and configuration changes for these facilities. The consultant shall support the team acting as the focal point for integrating the individual software components into the related data processing systems, covering all aspects of system integration and testing, including support to the endtoend testing of the complete production system. The consultants duties will also cover the contribution to the settingup and implementation of maintenance policies and procedures as well as the coordination with external providers of maintenance services. This may also entail the participation in the specification and development of monitoring tools for Sentinel3. In support to operations, the consultant may also be required to provide oncall support as part of a team of maintenance engineers.
