National Park Service Director Jon Jarvis waived agency policies against partnering with alcoholic beverage companies so the National Park Foundation could sign a multi-million-dollar agreement with Anheuser-Busch, a deal that provides Budweiser with valuable branding placements during the Park Service's centennial campaign. In return, the Park Service hopes to gain a valuable partner in its search for a younger audience for national parks, co-branding with the beermaker at concerts in the parks, and "integration with AB's Responsible Drinking Campaign."

Transportation Rule Waived for Livestock Haulers

Source: National Pork Producers Council The U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) has announced that it will grant a 90-day waiver of a new hours-of-service rule for truckers hauling livestock and poultry. Official announcement of the decision was published in the Federal Register on July 11. As of July 1, the DOT’s Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) requires truck drivers to take a 30-minute break if more than eight hours have passed since they began service. For drivers hauling livestock, the hours of service would include time loading and unloading animals. read more
