Location ESA Headquarters, Paris, France Description Reporting to the Head of the Financial Accounting and Fixed Asset Section in the Accounting Division, Finance, Planning and Controlling Department, Directorate of Internal Services the postholder is responsible for IPSAScompliant financial accounting and processing of ESA activities. Duties Specific duties include processing accounting entries in SAP maintaining financial accounting master data including the ESA Chart of Accounts preparing VAT claims and related postings preparing and checking final accounts of programme completion reports performing account reconciliations on a regular basis reconciling intercompany postings managing the accounting of the ESA pension and social security schemes and related reporting preparing regular and ad hoc financial management reports extracting and checking quarterly and annual costs reports of ECfunded programmes supporting the monthly and yearly closure of financial accounts and related tasks supporting the preparation of annual IPSAScompliant financial statements including disclosures participating in the reinforcement of internal quality controls of financial information preparing requested documentation for auditing IPSAS financial statements supporting draft audit responses with regard to IPSASrelated audit observations providing support and performing other workrelated duties as requested. An accounting qualification as Certified Public Accountant CPA, Chartered Accountant CA or Chartered Institute of Management Accountants CIMA is desirable. Additional requirements A minimum of five to eight years proven work experience in accounting at private or publicsector multinational organisations. Extensive operational accounting experience in SAP FI modules general ledger, VAT, accounts payable, accounts receivable, cashbanks, miscellaneous, fixed assets is required. Practical experience in the preparation of IPSAS financial statements. Other information For behavioural competencies expected from ESA staff in general, please refer to the ESA Competency Framework. The working languages of the Agency are English and French. A good knowledge of one of these is required. Knowledge of another Member State language would be an asset. DUTIES The Senior Accounting Officer provides support to the Chief Accountant with respect to implementation of the Agencys accounting policy and procedures. The post involves a variety of tasks aimed at ensuring timely, accurate delivery of IPSAS International Public Sector Accounting Standards compliant balances under the current ERP Enterprise Resource Planning system. QUALIFICATIONS Applicants for this post should have a Masters degree or equivalent in business administration, finance, accounting or a related field. A minimum of seven years of professional experience, with increasing responsibility, in accounting and auditing in private or publicsector multinational organisations is required. Demonstrated experience in complex accounting operations and consolidations is required. Several years of demonstrated experience in transitioning privatesector or publicsector accounting standards such as International Financial Reporting Standards or IPSAS is required. Extensive experience in working with the finance module and consolidation in an Enterprise Resource Planning ERP is required preferably SAP.
