2014-09-30 19:03:22| Extremetech
At an event in San Francisco today (1pm Eastern, 10am Pacific, 6pm UK) Microsoft will unveil Windows 9 -- or whatever Microsoft ends up calling it. The event is expected to focus on the Desktop and enterprise side of things, though Microsoft might also show off some of the changes to the Metro/mobile side of things. We'll be covering the event here with a live blog, and photos from our reporter in San Francisco -- but sadly, it seems Microsoft won't be providing a live video stream.

2014-09-18 14:10:35| Extremetech
Amazon, no doubt drowned by a deluge of Apple-related news, has released a flood of new Kindles. At the top end, there's a brand new magnesium-body Kindle Voyage e-book reader and an updated Kindle Fire HDX 8.9. At the low end, there's a new 6-inch Kindle Fire HD6 (just $100!) and a new $80 Kindle e-book reader with touch controls. And finally, in the middle, there's the Kindle Fire HD Kids Edition -- a ruggedized kid-proof tablet that comes in 6- and 7-inch flavors, costing $150 and $190 respectively.

Apples iPhone 6 event: Updated live blog and video stream
2014-09-09 17:15:20| Extremetech
Later today, Apple will reveal its latest hardware for the world to see. The rumor mill is betting heavily that Cupertino will announce the long-awaited iWatch and larger iPhone models, but anything could happen. We'll definitely see new hardware at the event, but you'd be wise to take all of these rumors with a grain of salt. Regardless of what Apple has lined up for us, video of the entire event is being streamed live, and I'll be live blogging the whole time. Check back here at 1pm ET (10am PT, 5pm UTC), and be the first to see what Tim Cook has up his sleeves.
