Aurora is an established supplier of skilled manpower to ESA and in particular at ESTEC and ESAC. Aurora has the opportunity to expand our support to ESA in the domain of SMT Structures, Materials, Mechanisms and Thermal Engineering. We are looking for a Mechanisms Engineer to support the Mechanisms Section, in the Directorate of Technology, Engineering and Quality TEC. Overview Mechanisms support to all ESA project directorates with respect to the implementation of space mechanism technologies in current and future missions, including configuration assessments and mission performance evaluation. Establishment of Statement of Work and Preliminary Requirement Specifications for Mechanism Systems, Individual Mechanisms or Mechanism components dedicated to Technology and Research Development. Perform and support in the role of Mechanism engineer, System Level Mission Definition studies and system conceptual design activities in support of the ESA long termfuture mission plans. Identification of enabling mechanism and tribological technologies for future ESA missions. Support investigations of mechanisms being out of performance, including malfunctions and contingency scenarios. Support and contribute to the establishment and maintenance of the Space Mechanisms ECSS Engineering Standards. Generation and setup of appropriate space mechanisms analysis and simulation models using analysis tools based on technical documentation of space mechanisms. Back up and archiving of analysis models for later retrieval. Specific qualification requirements A Master degree or Phd in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering. Minimum of 10 years of experience in Space mechanisms development. Excellent knowledge in space system engineering, specializing in mechanisms. Knowledge of the Space Mechanism ECSS standard and its application to the design and verification of mechanisms. Good knowledge of space mechanism testing and verification methodologies and techniques and a good knowledge of related mechanisms numerical analysis tools such as Adams, VirtualLab Motion , SIMPACK, MatlabSimulink, Maxwell, Flux etc. Good interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to work effectively, autonomously and cooperatively in a diverse and international team environment, defining and implementing solutions in line with team and individual objectives, as well as project deadlines. A very good working knowledge of spoken and written English is essential. Legal and Security Requirements All applicants must be legally allowed to work in The Netherlands Applicants are required to provide a copy of their passport and degree certificate. Aurora will validate the Degree with the issuing University and provide evidence to ESA. Prior to issuing a letter of employment the applicant shall provide to Aurora a recent official document declaring that they are of good conduct from the country where currently resident. Location The work will be performed at the European Space Technology and Research Centre ESTEC at Noordwijk, The Netherlands. Contract The selected candidate will receive good remuneration in line with ESA Job Class. Will be registered for both social security and tax in the Netherlands. The standard working hours are 40 per week. There are 12 public holidays and an additional 30 annual days holiday. Training to improve efficiency and provide strength for future career are of course included. Aurora assist with relocation both with support and financially. One of our Space Clients is looking for a Space Mechanisms Engineer to work on one of their projects. Role Description Develop within the team technical solutions. Coordinate interdisciplinary project work, such as design, analysis, electronics, technology, manufacturingintegration and testing. Coordinate and prepare technical documentation and set up verification and test plans. Present the solution at meetings and reviews. Prepare technical proposals where a high amount of flexibility is required. Should have a very good knowledge for mechanism analyses tribology, strength, control.

You will give support to space projects, technology research activities and evaluations of industrial contractors documentation and test verifications. Tasks and Responsibilities Mechanisms support to the projects directorates at ESAESTEC, with respect to the implementation of space mechanisms technology in future missions and space applications Conceptual definition of space mechanisms, configuration assessments and mission performance evaluations for science, space infrastructure, telecommunications and earth observation assessment studies and technology developments Establishment of requirement specifications for mechanism systems, individual mechanisms or mechanism components, dedicated to project or technology development applications disciplines, like robotics, cryogenics, telecommunications, space station and its utilization, earth observation and science, planetary science etc. Establishment of requirement specifications and statements of work for mechanism systems, individual mechanisms or mechanism components, dedicated to project or technology development applications Support and contribute to the establishment and maintenance of the space mechanisms ECSS engineering standards Perform and support System Level Mission Definition studies and system conceptual design activities in support of the ESA long termfuture mission plans Identification of enabling mechanism and tribological technology activities for future ESA missions relevant to the ESA future mission planning. Experience and Education A university degree or equivalent in mechanical or aeronautical engineering Experience within the field of mechanism design, analysis, verification and testing, preferably in the space sector Good technical judgment and solid communications skills, verbal and in writing, are essential Proactive attitude to solving problems and an interest for innovative technologies A good knowledge in space system engineering, space mechanism standards and their application to the design and verification of space mechanisms, is an asset.
