We are currently looking for a Document and Configuration Management Engineer to support our customer in Germany. Document and Configuration Management DM CM Engineer Key Tasks and Responsibilities As support to the Copernicus Programme and Service Management Office, you will have, among others, the following responsibilities Implement the applicable DM and CM plans, processes and working practices. Regularly review and propose improvements on those documents Deliver support to a wide range of users and training sessions on applicable DM and CM procedures Ensure that all incoming and outgoing Copernicus documentation is managed according to applicable EUMETSAT working practices Support the identification of the configuration items software, hardware and documents to be managed during Copernicus operations and buildup operations activities Support the administration of the Anomaly and Change Control Boards Liaise, coordinate and organise with external partners joint configuration boards Ensure that any new item version is deployed only after the formal review and approval of the related change Support the monitoring and control of hardware and software installation activities. Skills Experience You will have the following qualifications and relevant experience University degree or equivalent Extensive proven work experience in the specific field of DM and CM, including build, deployment and installation activities on large softwareintensive highavailability operational systems DM and CM standards e.g. CMMI, ISO or ECSS DM tools as basic administration or advanced user e.g. Oracle UCM CM tools as basic administration or advanced user e.g. Serena Dimensions or Clearcase Use of SQL queries Systemsoftware development processes and methodologies Practical experience with scripting languages e.g. vb.net, source code control tools CVS, Subversion , software development environments on UNIX Fluency in English is mandatory knowledge of another European language is an advantage. The inputs to scientific documents are provided by EUMETSAT remote sensing and products scientists and experts, product operation experts, trainers, etc. The purpose of the documents includes describing and explaining products and processing for a large community of users providing quality information e.g. the results of validation tests sharing and promoting new knowledge and applications. An important corpus of legacy and current scientific information is updated continuously, and new information is added regularly. Scientific information plays a key role in the use and uptake of EUMETSAT products and services, and it is important that you are able to manage it in a consistent and complete manner. Your tasks will include Collect input to documents from scientists and engineers Ensure consistency of style across documents Prepare draft documents for review and document issues for publication Coordinate document releases with the User Services Division responsible for Web site contents Definition of scientific documentation maintenance procedures, including templates and guidelines for contributors Manage information e.g. metadata extracted from documents Prepare and manage Web site contents. Ideal candidate In addition to having a University degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline, you should have a minimum of 3 years experience in scientific documentation editing and maintenance. Specifically, you should bring demonstrated experience in Writing documents of a technical or scientific nature Compiling documents from multiple contributors Processing of large text documents with Microsoft Word Processing of complex documents including images, equations, etc. Web publishing of documents Controlling documents within a Document management system. You should be able to fulfil the assigned tasks with a minimum of supervision, have a systematic approach to work, be able to plan your work and to cope with tight schedules and multiple tasks. The official languages of EUMETSAT are English and French. The working language for the position is English and therefore you must be able to work effectively in this language. Desirables The following areas of expertise would be an advantage Webbased information services Processing and or applications of Earth Observation satellite data Knowledge of LaTeX Knowledge of Framemaker.
