Environment News Service: Insect control giant Ortho today said the company would immediately begin phasing out neonicotinoid-based pesticides for outdoor use because they are deadly to valuable pollinators such as bees. Scotts Miracle-Gro is moving away from a class of chemicals that some believe has decimated insects including bees and butterflies. The Marysville-based lawn and garden company is phasing neonicotinoids, or neonics, out of its popular Ortho brand of pest-control products.
