(Telecompaper) The two Peacock premium tiers cost USD 4.99 per month with ads and USD 9.99 per month with no ads. Both come with more than 15,000 hours of content including live sports such as the Premier League and early access to late-night shows as well as full season Peacock originals and tent-pole series. The company said it expects to bundle Peacock Premium with additional partners in the coming months.

Microsoft to go carbon negative by 2030, start USD 1 bln fund to help carbon reduction worldwide

(Telecompaper) Microsoft has announced a new goal, that it will be carbon negative by 2030. Looking further still, the company also pledges to remove from the environment all the carbon it has ever emitted since its 1975 foundation, either directly or by electrical consumption, by 2050. Microsoft added that it will also help suppliers and customers worldwide reduce their footprints. And to help in this goal, it has set up a new USD 1 billion climate innovation fund to accelerate the development of carbon reduction, capture and removal technologies.

Last week in media: a soft start to 2020 and nearly matching the S&P 500 in 2019

(Telecompaper) The media sector has been relatively quiet in 2020, so far. Time for a look back at 2019. The sector, as per the Telecompaper Global Media index, did almost as well as the S&P 500 index. The absolute winner in our basket was Snap, up almost threefold. McClatchy was the worst stock to own in 2019, down 94 percent. Further, in most segments performances diverged widely. Gaming, social networking, VOD and conglomerates were exceptions, with most shares in those segments doing (very) well last year. The theatre segment stayed behind.
