After most of the plastic, glass and ferrous metals have been removed, the remainder of the recycables pass over an eddy current separator, which uses a "reverse magnet" to charge metals that aren't naturally magnetic. These non-ferrous metals are then ejected from the eddy current separator.

ASTM International Committee B02 on Nonferrous Metals and Alloys honored Terry Gabel, senior metallurgical engineer at Swagelok (Solon, OH) with Gary M. Kralik Distinguished Service Award. ASTM member since 2003, Gabel was recognized for service as B02 recording secretary and on Subcommittee on Refined Nickel and Cobalt and Their Alloys (B02.07). Gabel also serves as American Society for Metals member.

Citing dedicated service and numerous contributions, ASTM International Committee B02 on Nonferrous Metals and Alloys presented Gary M. Kralik Distinguished Service Award to Abbas Mirza, Ph.D. With ASTM since 2007, Mirza served as vice chairman of Subcommittee on Lead, Tin, Antimony and Their Alloys (B02.02) since 2010 and served multiple terms as B02 membership secretary. Mirza also received B02 Award of Appreciation in 2011.
