India active DTH subscribers up 1.84 million in 2Q 2018

According to figures submitted to TRAI, active satellite pay TV subscriptions in India reached 69.37 million at the end of June 2018, up 1.84 million versus the end of the previous quarter, and up 4.06 million year-on-year.

The Walt Disney Companys Direct-to-Consumer and International (DTCI) segment has announced that ESPN+, the multi-sport, direct-to-consumer subscription streaming service from DTCI in collaboration with ESPN, has surpassed one million paying subscribers in just over five months since its April 2018 launch.

(Telecompaper) US streaming service Hulu has launched a new ad campaign after it passed 1 million subscribers for its live TV service, USA Today reports. Launched last year, the service was last reported to be at 800,000 customers in May. Overall, Hulu has more than 20 million subscribers including those who pay for its on-demand TV and movie offerings.

Strategy Analytics analysis of U.S. pay TV subscriber numbers shows vMVPDs with 868K net adds in 2Q 2018 bringing the total number of vMVPD subscribers to 6.73M, up 119% YoY. Despite this, overall pay TV subscribers fell to 93.78M.
