National Geographic: NASA satellites show part of Chinas plan to meet its ambitious new UN pledge to cut carbon emissions: solar power. On Tuesday, China said it would halt the rise in its heat-trapping emissions within 15 years and would boost its share of non-fossil fuel energy use to 20 percent by 2030. Its commitment, similar to the one it made last year in a joint U.S. agreement, comes ahead of UN climate talks in Paris in December. Chinas goal reflects how quickly its becoming the worlds leader in solar power....

Through UAS-NAS project, NASA, General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc., and Honeywell International, Inc., are flying a series of tests at NASA’s Armstrong Flight Research Center that would make it possible for unmanned aircraft to fly routine operations in U.S. airspace. Tests engage core air traffic infrastructure and supporting software components through live and virtual environment to demonstrate how remotely piloted aircraft interacts with air traffic controllers and other air traffic.

Mother Nature Network: The Earths largest aquifers, a source of water for more than 60 million people, are depleting fast, likely due to a growing world population and industries such as agriculture, according to a new study. Scientists at the University of California, Irvine led the research that used NASAs GRACE satellite to find out just how much groundwater were losing and how quickly. The detailed images show that 21 of the worlds 37 largest aquifers are past sustainability tipping points, meaning that those...
