Orange France launches Livebox 5 with revamped broadband offers

(Telecompaper) Orange France announced the launch of a new version of its Livebox router, highlighting its eco-friendly credentials. The Livebox 5 will be available with the operator's Livebox Up broadband packages and Open Up quad-play bundles. It will provide a maximum download speed of up to 2 Gbps (up to 600 Mbps upload), double what the Livebox 4 currently supports. Among its main features, 'Smart WiFi' enables the router to reduce interference caused by neighbouring Wi-Fi signals to ensure an improved speed performance.

Xiaomi launches retail presence in France and Italy

(Telecompaper) Chinese brand Xiaomi has started officially selling its products in France ahead of the opening of its Italian store on 24 May. In a statement Xiaomi said its French commercial push includes its own Mi.com e-commerce site and its first authorised Mi Store at 39 Boulevard de Sebastopol in Paris. It has also partnered with e-commerce platforms such as Cdiscount, Amazon, Auchan, Boulager, Fnac, Darty and Carrefour, and with local offline retailers, to present a broad range of its products across France. It added that Orange, SFR, Bouygues and Free subscribers will also be able to buy Xiaomi smartphones in the near future.

(Telecompaper) Orange France has started marketing a new pay-TV bundle, named 'Pickle', designed for the 15-35 year old target audience. Priced at EUR 4.99 per month, the subscription gives access to ad-free multi-screen TV and premium video content including Vivendi's Studio+ and Webedia's new 'ES1' channel dedicated to eSport. The entertainment-focused package also offers several thematic channels (Game One, OKLM, Clubbing TV, Manga One and Spicee), as well as all episodes from 'South Park' and a new series from internet video platform Golden Moustache.
