El Paso County Commissioners Court hires company to clean up illegal dumping in Fabens

El Paso County Commissioners Court has contracted an environmental engineering firm to address the illegal dumping problem in a closed Fabens landfill. The county has until Monday to comply with a violation notice issued by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality on Feb. 17, after an investigation revealed county employees illegally disposed paving material in a landfill closed since 1990 east of Fabens.

Court bans Elmore Co. couple from operating as used car dealers

A judge has granted a permanent injunction against an Elmore County used car dealer accused of defrauding customers, according to the Alabama Attorney General Luther Strange. Elmore County Circuit Judge Sibley Reynolds granted the permanent injunction against Quality Used Cars, which was also doing business as Preowned Automotive, as well as its owners and operators, Claton and Connie Reeves.

After the Federal Trade Commission blocked Houston-based Sysco Corp.'s $8.2 billion merger with Rosemont, Illinois-based US Foods for allegedly violating antitrust laws, Sysco is preparing for its next move. Sysco denies that the merger breaks antitrust or anticompetitive regulations.

The European Court of Justice recently announced that it will issue a decision in Genentech Inc. v. Hoechst GmbH , in response to a request from the Paris Court of Appeals for clarification on whether European antitrust law precludes payment of royalties on a patent licensing agreement after the invalidation of the patent.
