Cellnex revenues up 15% to over EUR 1 bln in 2019, narrows net loss

(Telecompaper) Spanish operator Cellnex Telecom, Europe's largest mobile towers company, reported full-year revenues of EUR 1.035 billion in 2019, up 15 percent on the year-earlier result of EUR 901 million, completing its fifth straight year of double-digit growth. The company's EBITDA rose 16 percent to EUR 686 million and it reduced its net loss for the 12-month period to EUR 9 million from EUR 15 million the year before despite higher amortisations and financial costs associated with the growth of the group and the expansion of its geographical footprint.
Disney+ offers EUR 10 off annual subscriptions in Europe early access promo

(Telecompaper) The streaming service Disney+ has announced an early access offer ahead of its launch in markets across Western Europe on 24 March. Anyone signing up to the platform by 23 March will pay EUR 59.99 rather than EUR 69.99 for an annual subscription, equivalent to EUR 4.99 a month, for over 1,000 films and series, said the company on its local websites. Monthly subscriptions currently remain at EUR 6.99.
Orange announces EUR 1.5 bln skills development and retraining programme

(Telecompaper) Orange has unveiled a number of HR objectives as part of its 'Engage 2025' strategic plan, saying that it will invest over EUR 1.5 billion to adapt and strengthen the skills of its employees. The group has the ambition to involve its entire global workforce in a new skills development and retraining programme. Under the plan, it will focus on key technical areas such as network virtualisation, cloud, big data, artificial intelligence, coding and cyber security. The number of experts in these fields will double to reach over 20,000, said the company, adding that all employees will also have the opportunity to develop soft skills as well as technical expertise.

Apple agrees to pay EUR 25 mln regulatory fine in France over iPhone software updates

(Telecompaper) The DGCCRF, France's anti-fraud and consumer protection agency, said that Apple has agreed to pay a EUR 25 million fine in a legal settlement. This follows an investigation into the company after a complaint from a consumer association, filed in January 2018. The probe focused on the accusation that in 2017, Apple failed to inform customers that the performance of their iPhones could slow down because of software updates to manage battery power demands.
TIM, Wind Tre, Vodafone and Fastweb fined EUR 228 mln over 28-day billing collusion

(Telecompaper) Italy's antitrust and competition authority AGCM has fined the operators Telecom Italia (TIM), Wind Tre, Vodafone Italia and Fastweb a total of EUR 228 million following a probe into possible collusion over their controversial 28-day billing practices. The operators were accused of infringing competition rules by collectively agreeing to raise their prices after introducing 28-day billing in 2017, effectively resulting in a 13th monthly bill every year.
