Your daytoday activities For one of our client we are looking for a System Performance VerificationValidation Engineer SETA for the Galileo Program. In this role, you will be contributing to the integration, verification and validation of the FOC updates of the Galileo System and their deployment to Operational chain and supporting the preparation and execution of all performance validation activities in FOC. This includes in particular contribute to the maintenance of the System Requirements System Functional Chains traceability contribute to the verification of the functionalities underlying system performance tests organise and perform along with SETA colleagues, the verification tests related to performance requirements, among which follow up RFDRFW recovery follow up ARNCR resolution This role is based in Noordwijk The Netherlands. Things you need to be succesful You are wellorganized, energetic and have a high level of attention to detail. You have advanced analytical skills and are a quick learner. You have a strong interest in verification of a highly complex space system, are inquisitive and able to investigate technical problems. You also have a Master Degree or PhD with a focus on Information Technology or equivalent Experience in software design and its principles is desirable Experience with GSWS standards or equivalent is desirable Experience with Galileo A EU Personal Security Clearance at the level of CONFIDENTIAL and above is part of the selection procedure. System Performance Engineer on Biomass Project

Overview The holder of this post will contribute to all aspects project internal activities and monitoringreview of the relevant industrial activities relevant to the system performance of the Biomass mission up to Level 1b TBC products in the context of the design and implementation activities undertaken in the frame of the Biomass Project. The post holder will report to the Biomass System Operations Manager. In particular the tasks include Support the maintenance of system level requirements in the following areas Mission observation requirements including PBand SAR requirements Biomass EndtoEnd simulator BEEPS and Ground Processor Prototype GPP requirements External calibration with ground based transponder and natural targets SAR internal calibration ITU regulation and protection against RFI. Develop and maintain system performance mathematical models and tools to support the assessment of the relevant activities performed in the context of the Biomass industrial development contract and of the compliance of the system design to the mission performance requirements Consolidate and maintain the Biomass Performance Analysis, Assessment and Verification Document Maintain System level performance budgets, in coordination with the Biomass Payload and EngineeringAIV sections for what concerns the contributing budgets. Monitor and critically analyse the compliance of the system performance budgets with the endtoend system performance requirements and propose corrective actions in case of deviation Monitor and critically analyse the System level performance requirement allocation, their flow down to the relevant contributors, the associated margins and their evolution Monitor and review the definition and implementation of the Biomass External calibration plan and the specification, procurement and verificationvalidation of the relevant equipment Support the payload team for aspects relevant to instrument performance requirements flowdown and instrument performance verification, including relevant models and tools Verify and ensure the coherence of the external calibration approach and ground processing implementation with the instrument internal calibration and instrument performance in coordination with the Biomass Payload section Support the payload team for the flowdown to the instrument of requirements derived from the ITU regulation applicable to Biomass and for the definition of protection measures against Radio Frequency Interference Monitor and review the BEEPS and GPP specification, procurement and verificationvalidation activities, including aspects relevant to the implementation of RFI mitigation measures in the SAR processing algorithms Monitor and review the system performance verification plan and associated verification activities Support the acceptance of the BEEPS and GPP all versions and acquire working knowledge of the tools for test data generation purposes and internal system level verification activities Support the definition of interfaces and exchanges between the Biomass Space Segment Contract and relevant support studies e.g. Biomass External Calibration Study Support the definition of calval plans and the preparation, execution and analysis of the relevant inflight operations during the commissioning phase Support Payload Data Ground Segment PDGS Requirement definition and reviews for what concern the SAR processor aspects Support crossverification activities of the PDGS operational SAR processor against the Ground Processor Prototype Support the interactions with the Biomass Mission Advisory Group MAG for what concerns mission instrument performance aspects, including endtoend system performance verification and compliance status Support the conduct and preparation of Agency Project reviews Support the System and Operations Manager and the Biomass project team members in all aspects related to system performance, as necessary for the effective execution of the Biomass project. The System Performance Engineer will cooperate closely with the Biomass payload team in the execution of the relevant tasks. Furthermore shehe will be supported by and is expected to closely cooperate with specialist engineers from the Biomass team, from the Earth Observation System Support Division and from the Directorate of Technical and Quality Management DTEC as appropriate. The incumbent will provide regular reporting to the Biomass System and Operations Manager. Specific qualification requirements University degree preferably Masters or equivalent qualification in a relevant physical science or engineering subject. A minimum of 3 years relevant professional experience post degree in SAR systems, SAR performancecalibration and SAR processing, preferably acquired in a space project environment. Good understanding of the overall instruments, including background in modelling of the observation techniques, endtoend performance estimation, level 1b processing and instrument characterisation. The candidate must possess solid analytical skills and the command of the physics and techniques of SAR systems, together with the capability to critically analyse the work performed by industry in the relevant areas, identify problems and proposeinstigate corrective actions. Background and experience on the specific issues relevant to low frequency, fullpol SAR systems is an asset. Candidates shall demonstrate good familiarity with computer programs such as Excel, Matlab, etc. Ability to work and communicate effectively in English. Be able to work independently and also work with colleagues within a team. Legal and Security Requirements All applicants must be legally allowed to work in The Netherlands Applicants are required to provide a copy of their passport and degree certificate. Aurora will validate the Degree with the issuing University and provide evidence to ESA. Prior to issuing a letter of employment the applicant shall provide to Aurora a recent official document declaring that they are of good conduct from the country where currently resident. Location The work will be performed at the European Space Technology and Research Centre ESTEC at Noordwijk, The Netherlands. Contract The selected candidate will receive good remuneration. Will be registered for both social security and tax in the Netherlands. The standard working hours are 40 per week. There are 12 public holidays and an additional 30 annual days holiday. Mission Performance and System Engineer J 3139 Summary An opportunity for an experienced engineer to provide support on site at ESTEC to the Earth Observation Future Missions Division DEOPSF with the development of endtoend simulators and System Engineering Tools and to support Mission Performance and System Engineering activities Objective The Future Missions Division at ESTEC is tasked with preparing new EO missions and technologies. To support this work a contractor is required to work with the definition, development and exploitation of endtoend simulators for future EO missions, aiming at a coherent and representative modelling of each element of the system satellite, payload, ground processing contributing to the endtoend mission performance, and maximising the synergies and reuse of building blocks from one simulator to the next. Further support will be required in the definition, development and exploitation of System Engineering Tools for future EO missions. Responsibilities Duties Duties will include but are not limited to the following two areas Area 1 EndtoEnd Simulations for future EO missions Support the definition and development of the EndtoEnd E2E Mission Performance Simulators for future EO missions, including elaboration of SOW and technical specifications, participation to progress meetings and reviews. Contributing to ensure the technical coherency and completeness of the simulation of the observation system, including, as needed, functional analysis, system level budgeting, system performance analyses, modelling of spacecraft andor payload subsystems and related data processing to meet system and mission requirements. Install and use those E2E simulators on the EOPSF IT infrastructure for mission performance evaluation and system tradeoffs for future EO missions. Provide feedback from endtoend mission performance simulations and optimisations to the spacecraft and mission design. Ensure a consistent evolution and maintenance of the E2E simulators and a proper configuration and storage of the relevant inputoutput data sets. Initiate and support work in the area of modelling of system or subsystem aspects spacecraft, payload, ground processing for E2E simulators and System Engineering Tools. Support the development of generic building blocks and modules, and aim at maximum synergy and reuse of those building blocks and modules from one E2E simulator to the next making use of ESA OpenSF infrastructure. Area 2 System Engineering Tools for future EO missions Participate to the development of new System Engineering Tools for preliminary analysis and sizing of future EO missions, ensuring a coherent and representative modelling of each element of the system satelliteplatform and its subsystems, payload, ground processing contributing to the system performance. Participate to the evolution and maintenance of the existing System Engineering Tools used in EOPSF. Use the above System Engineering Tools for system tradeoffs, preliminary sizing and performance evaluation of future EO missions. Provide feedback from mission optimisation to the spacecraft and mission design. Qualifications Experience University degree MSc minimum in Aerospace Engineering or another relevant engineering discipline. At least 4 years relevant industrial experience with a background in space system engineering and General knowledge of ESA Earth Observation missions. Background in space system engineering. Experience in mission analysis. Solid background on IT and computer programming including MATLAB, Python, STK, MS Excel and CAD software knowledge is an asset. Experience on modelling and simulation of observing system characteristics spacecraft, payload, ground processing, orbit and how they impact mission data quality and relate to system requirements and scientific goals is desirable. Versatility to adapt to the specificities of each mission considering the wide range of possible EO observation techniques e.g. opticalmicrowave, passiveactive, imagersounder, nadirlimb observation and platforms e.g. minimicronanosatellite, orbits SunSynchronous or drifting, LEOMEOGEOHEO. Experience with system performance simulation is an asset. Knowledge on optimisation techniques is an asset.
