Buy-to-let surge 'raising house prices'

Surveyors are witnessing a surge of demand from buy-to-let investors which they expect to push up house prices.

House prices across the UK accelerated in the year to November, rising 7.7%, according to the Office for National Statistics.

UK house prices rose by 9.5% in 2015, according to the lender Halifax, making it the fastest annual increase in nine years.

The price of the average UK home will rise by 50% in the next 10 years, say trade bodies for estate agents and letting agents.

UK house prices continued to grow strongly in October, the Office for National Statistics says.
