For our activities in ESTEC, we are currently looking for a Laboratory Engineer. Tasks and Responsibilities The Position is laboratory based, covering four laboratories The Energy Storage Laboratory The Solar Generator Laboratory The Electrical Power Laboratory The High Voltage Laboratory. The successful applicant will be one of a team of four contractors working alongside a team of scientific staff performing investigations and experiments. Responsibilities include Setting up and undertaking controlled experiments Recording and presenting data for analysis Preparation and instrumentation of test samples Maintaining equipment Writing reports and summaries Following and ensuring strict safety procedures. Requirements Qualifications experience Degree level education in a scientific discipline, Software engineering skills, LabView, C Broad and in depth experience and knowledge of laboratory testing environments. Materials Laboratory Test Engineer

It employs some 40,000 employees generating revenues of approximately 14 billion per year. A vacancy has arisen for a Materials Test Engineer with Airbus Defence and Space in Stevenage. This role reports to the Laboratory Manager. The successful candidate will be responsible To provide materials, mechanical parts and processes testing support to business unit projects as required. To contribute to the Materials and Processes MP team mission of assuring the quality of materials and processes used in Airbus Defence and Space products. The successful candidate will be subject to UK National Security Clearance in order to undertake related work in accordance with business needs. Your main tasks and responsibilities will include Handson testing of materials and processes used in the manufacture of Space products. To satisfy internal customers projects, product teams, manufacturing, AIT, procurement, design office, Product Assurance through the application of laboratory services. To assure performance of planned activities, on time and with respect to the PA and MP requirements. To support Materials Engineering investigations and development and qualification programmes. Contribute to the development and implementation of a common approach to laboratory working processes. Contribute to the maintenance and improvement of internal databases and operating procedures. Contribute to the continuous improvement of laboratory processes. This role will involve some travel for business and as such you must be able to travel accordingly. We are looking for candidates with the following skills and experience Degree in Chemistry and Physics Minimum ONC, preferred HNCNVQ3 engineering Experience of working in a controlled, high technology environment Proven experience in a Laboratory environment Experience with Mechanical and Chemical testing Basic knowledge of Materials and Processes MP test techniques and procedures Appreciation of audits and continuous improvement Awareness of health and safety, environment and COSHH Knowledge of Airbus Defence Space processes and organisation Team working skills Good interpersonal skills, communication and presentation capability Internal customer and results oriented Handson practical skills, manual dexterity PC literate, report and specification writing, database maintenance and spreadsheets.
