Dish teams up with Freedompop to launch free mobile service in Mexico

(Telecompaper) Mexican pay-TV provider Dish has announced the activation of a free mobile phone service for its DTH customers via US-based MVNO Freedompop. The launch follows the deal reached between Freedompop and Dish's parent company MVS Communicaciones at the end of last year and, according to CNN Expansion, the service will initially be available in 16 states before rolling out to the rest of the country in the first quarter of 2018.

Deutsche Telekom named best mobile network in Germany in Chip survey

(Telecompaper) Deutsche Telekom continues to operate the best performing mobile network in Germany, Chip magazine's Network Test 2017 found. The test compared the network coverage and quality of the mobile networks of Telekom, Vodafone and O2 and was based on nearly 470,000 measurement samples from 27,000 phone calls and 180,000 data samples made at various locations across Germany.

(Telecompaper) Jeroen Hoencamp, CEO of VodafoneZiggo, had called for a nation digitalisation summit, less regulation and the complete release of the 3.5 GHz band for 5G networks in the Netherlands. At a debate organised by VodafoneZiggo with politicians and industry leaders, the CEO said the country may be a leader in connectivity, but the government needs to work harder at creating the right environment for long-term investment in digital infrastructure or the country will fall behind.
