One of our space clients in Germany is looking for a long term contractor position for a Flight Dynamics Engineer. Their tasks in the area of EPS Flight Dynamics routine operations will typically include Execution of the routine operations of the EPS Flight Dynamics Facility, including spacecraft orbit determination and propagation, events and ground station visibility predictions, Attitude and Orbit Control System AOCS telecommand generation and telemetry monitoring. Planning and execution of EPS spacecraft maneuvers, as well as of their evaluation, thruster calibration and maintenance of the fuel budgets estimates. Support to the contingency operation of EPS spacecraft, including preparation and execution of conjunction avoidance maneuvers, recovery of routine operations, safe mode support and operation transfer to the BackUp Control Centre these activities may require intervention during the night and the nonworking days. Operational quality control of maneuvers and AOCS telecommands before uplink and execution onboard of the EPS spacecraft. Preparation and maintenance of Flight Dynamics operational procedures for spacecraft routine, special and contingency operations, operational configuration maintenance and system management. Performance analysis of the EPS Flight Dynamics System, specially focusing on the monitoring of the input to the processing of meteorological products, and implementation of enhancements as required. Perform system level analyses needed for the refinement of the Flight Dynamics algorithms and optimisation of the operational configuration and implementation of enhancements as required for the EPS missions. Preparation and production of routine reports as necessary. Their tasks in the area of preparation and of Flight Dynamics operations for future Low Earth Orbiting satellites will typically include Support to the ground segment development and operational preparation activities in the area of Flight Dynamics prior to launch of a new LEO satellite EPS, Sentinel3, EPSSG and JasonCS FD database preparation, definition of operational procedures, generation of related operational configuration data and participation to operational validation of satellite and groundsegment operations. Support Flight Dynamics activities during launch and commissioning for the new LEO satellite EPS, Sentinel3, EPSSG and JasonCS startup of FD system and initialisation of FD operational data, assessment of handover conditions, inflight validation of FD performances and transition to routine operations. Review of spacecraft and groundsegment technical documentation and participation in formal reviews. Execution of Flight Dynamics routine operations after the launch of a new satellite, similarly to what above described for the EPS satellites. Perform required mission and system analysis studies, preparation of technical notes and attendance at technical meetings.

For one of our main customers, EUMETSAT, we are currently looking for a Flight Dynamics System Software Engineering Supportfor the requirements specification, architectural design, implementation, integration, verification and maintenance of the Flight Dynamics System of a Ground Segment. The work will cover EUMETSAT Low Earth Orbit LEO Programmes. The key person shall work in the Mission Control Applications and Tools Team within the GSI Division in the TSS Department. The key person will report to the Mission Control Applications Team Leader. The tasks of the key person will be carried out at EUMETSAT facilities in Darmstadt, but travel overseas andor within Europe may be required for certain activities. Maintenance and Evolution Activities o Reengineering activities analysis of the porting of some subsystems to stateoftheart technologies, tradeoff studies of various technologies, software design of the technical solutions, following the procurement of the changes with external contractors and verification testing of the changes. o Evolutions and changes generation andor analysis of userdriven and maintenance driven software requirements, software design of the technical solutions, following the procurement of the changes with external contractors and verification testing of the changes. o Preventive and corrective maintenance including the investigation and correction or following the corrections implemented by external contractors of anomalies in the software facilities and verification testing of the fixes. o Maintenance test procedures generation and updates of maintenance test procedures at software facility level and at system level. o Support and development of the verification infrastructure development andor procurement of scripts tools to perform installation checks, nonregression, functional and performance testing. Analysis and implementation of mechanisms or tools allowing the automatic or semiautomatic verification testing of the application software. o Coordination of the production of new software releases or patches, delivery acceptance and installation onsite. This activity includes the technical coordination of the production by an external contractor of new releases or patches of the application software, liaison with the EUMETSAT operational users, participation to technical reviews, participation to infactory at contractor premises acceptance testing campaigns and coordination of the installation of the releases or patches onsite at EUMETSAT. o Execution and coordination of software verification and nonregression testing campaigns. This activity includes preparation of test data, running the test procedures on the target system, generation of test reports, analysis of results and troubleshooting of problems. o Software support software support to the endusers of the application software. o Ensure operations continuity by provision of oncall services and software support to operations. o Documentation generation and updates of technical documents. o Technical point of contact for maintenance contractors acting as point of contact with the contractor for technical discussions, review of technical documentation from the contractor, organizing periodical technical meetings with the contractor. Support to Reference Architecture definition and maintenance o Participation to the definition and maintenance of the EUMETSAT TSS reference architecture for the Flight Dynamics System part of the Ground Segment. Experience and education In addition to having a University degree in a relevant engineering discipline, the key person shall demonstrate significant knowledge and experience in the area of specification, design, implementation, verification and maintenance of Flight Dynamics Systems. The key person shall have skills and experience in the following mandatory areas 1. Domain Skills o Experience minimum 3 years in requirements elicitation in the area of Flight Dynamics. o Experience minimum 3 years in the definition of software requirements, architectural design, implementation andor customisation of Satellite Flight Dynamics Systems in the context of LEO missions. 2. Software Development, Verification Maintenance Skills o Experience minimum 3 years in the full cycle of development and maintenance of application software, preferably for Satellite Flight Dynamics Systems, following formal software engineering processes. This includes user and system requirement analysis, software requirement engineering, software design, implementation, corrective and evolutive maintenance activities. o Experience minimum 3 years in IVV integration, verification and validation activities for Flight Dynamics Systems following formal engineering processes. This includes requirement verification, system and subsystem integration, generation of test plan and test procedures, nonregression testing, generation of test data, generation of test tools, running the test procedures on the target system, generation of test reports and anomaly tracking. It would be a distinct advantage for the key person to have knowledge andor experience with some of the following 3. Domain Skills o Experience with software development and maintenance of Satellite Flight Dynamics Systems and Tools based on the ESAESOC NAPEOS Navigation Package for Earth Observation Satellite. o Experience with software development and maintenance of Tools using the Orekit space dynamics library. o Experience in integration with Mission Control Systems based on MICONYS software suite from ESAESOC. o Experience in integration with Mission Planning Systems. o Experience with support to operations for Satellite Flight Dynamics Systems. 4. System Maintenance Skills o Experience in being the technical point of contact for contractors working at offsite premises and responsible for application software evolution and maintenance. 5. Software Technology Skills o Experience with developing software applications using FORTRAN. o Experience with developing software applications using Java. o IBM DOORS requirement management Tool. o Sparx Systems Enterprise Architect Tool. o Linux Operating System. o Experience in developing software applications using interfaces to relational database management systems RDBMS and experience with data model design for RDBMS. o Unified Modelling Language UML for software design. o XML processing schema design, validation, parser libraries, transformation XSLT and XPath. o Experience in designing, developing and maintaining software client applications using Eclipse as HMI framework Rich Client Platform. o Experience using tools for the automation of software testing. The official languages of EUMETSAT are English and French. The working language for the position is English and therefore the key person must be able to work effectively in this language.
