A Portland man was charged with Class A robbery Wednesday after allegedly attempting to steal clothing from L.L. Bean, assaulting a security guard and resisting arrest by police. Andrew Rupard, 28, of Portland was charged with robbery, refusing to submit to arrest or detention and violating condition of release following the incident, which took place just after 3 p.m. in the retail store, Freeport police Detective Gino Bianchini said.

Another L.L. Bean store headed to greater Albany, New York region

The Post Star is reporting that the Maine-based retailer has plans to open a 13,600-square-foot store just south of Lake George. The store is set to open at Adirondack Outlet Mall on Route 9 in August.
