We are currently looking for an Engineer to work as Columbus Flight Controller STRATOS Position Start dateTBD LocationOberpfaffenhofen Required skills Engineering degree or equivalent University degree Willingness to work shift for 247 support Good team working and communication skills Fluency in written and spoken English German would be an asset Demonstrable Interest in Human Space FlightSpace Operations would be an asset Key tasks and responsibilities STRATOS position is responsible foronorbit operations for ThermalControl TCS, Environmental Control ECLSS, Electrical Power Distribution EPDS, Data Monitoring DMS and Communications COMMS systems of Columbus Module of International Space Station. The main tasks are divided between real time onconsole operations and offline office tasks. Real time tasks Monitoring, Operation and Safing of hardware and software related to onboard subsystems as required using predefined procedures and other operational products Responsible for providing operations information of the Columbus systems to other teams as required per operations. Perform resource management and coordination with International partners for system and Payload requirements of power and bandwidth. Support International partners and ESA payload teams with their payloads when they interface with systems for which STRATOS position is responsible. Perform resource planning and review of the upcoming activities on the Space Station timelines Provide proper documentation of activities done in shift, any anomalies observed and handover to oncoming shift. With CiA® 443 CANopen communication interface for use on subsea trees in offshore oil drilling, SSI Series provides feedback on valves in monitoring and controlling their status as part of subsea control module. Sensors are encased in Inconel 625 to withstand deep sea environments with pressures up to 5,000 psi. Levels of nickel, chromium, and molybdenum promote protection against corrosion and meet service life requirements of at least 20 years even if fully exposed to seawater.
