W.W. Grainger Inc. said strong sales volume growth helped boost third-quarter profits by 9 percent from a year ago, beating analysts' expectations. Lake Forest, Illinois-based Grainger , which supplies maintenance, repair and operating products, said third-quarter profits reached $230.3 million, or $3.30 per share, compared with $210.8 million, or $2.95 per share, a year earlier.
